Who Shawn Is
Shawn Dodd is a former U.S. Army Ranger, keynote speaker, social media strategist, and the creator known online as IronRanger023. He is the founder of IronRanger Media, a creator-led social media agency based in Austin, Texas, and the founder of Life Code, a personal development community built on discipline, ownership, purpose, and legacy.
Military Service
Shawn served in the U.S. Army from 1997 to 2004. Over seven years he graduated from Ranger School, earned the Ranger Tab, and rose to Staff Sergeant and assault squad leader, served in combat overseas, and was named Soldier of the Year for the 1st Infantry Division. He credits the Army with teaching him how to make decisions, lead people, and stay accountable when the pressure is highest.
Business Career
After the military, Shawn built a career in operations leadership. He held senior retail roles, served as a regional general manager for LensCrafters, and directed West Coast operations for a national dental organization of about 100 dentists. He later worked as an executive consultant, coaching leaders inside multimillion- and multibillion-dollar companies on operations, leadership development, and sales. He holds a bachelor's degree in business and an MBA.
The Pivot
During the pandemic, Shawn contracted COVID-19 and spent nearly four weeks in the ICU with viral pneumonia. The experience changed his priorities. His sons were getting active on social media, and he set out to learn the platforms so he could guide them. He discovered a talent for content, strategy, and community building, and his own channels took off.

Under the IronRanger023 name, Shawn has grown a combined audience of more than 1.3 million followers across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and YouTube. His content blends veteran perspective, Gen X humor, men's lifestyle, fitness, and personal growth. He has partnered with more than 1,000 brands and has helped raise more than $1.7 million for charitable causes through his platforms.
IronRanger Media
As brands asked Shawn to promote their products, then to teach their teams, then to manage their pages, he built that demand into a company. First launched as AIA Social Media under AIA Consulting LLC, the agency now operates as IronRanger Media. It works in three ways: creator-led promotions through Shawn's own channels, consulting and education for business owners and creators, and full-service social media management. Its focus is engagement and community, not just attractive posts.
Speaking and Media
Shawn has delivered more than 36 keynotes on social media engagement and leadership. He appeared on NewsNation's Morning in America in a segment on veterans building a life worth living after the military. He has been a guest on Positive Talk Radio, Get Celebritized with Emmy Award-winning host Aurea McGarry, and other shows, and has been featured by VoyageAustin and CanvasRebel.
